Dr Gianmarco Regazzola is an orthopedic surgeon specialized in hip and knee surgery and trauma management. When treating patients, he combines his international training background and profound knowledge in the most advanced technologies in the field of robotics with a personalized and transparent approach, which focuses on the needs of the individual to better define the curative path based on recent medical studies.
Dr Regazzola’s professional passion is centered on prosthetic surgery of the hip and knee and revision surgery, robotic surgery and prosthetic surgery with computerized navigation, as well as reconstructive surgery of the knee.
In 2009 he graduated with a Medical Degree at the University of Insubria in Varese and from the same university in 2015, he was awarded his Specialisation Diploma in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. In addition to his academic training in Italy, he also undertook hip and knee subspecialty training in Australia, one of the most advanced countries in the field of robotic surgery.
Between 2014 and 2017, he completed two prestigious clinical and research fellowships accredited by the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). During this period, he served as a fellow at the Hip and Knee Clinic at Sydney Olympic Park under the guidance of Prof. Warwick Bruce, Dr. Peter Walker and Prof. William Walsh, and was exposed to the most advanced techniques in the treatment of hip and knee problems. Later, he trained alongside Dr. Myles Coolican, Dr. David Parker and Dr. Brett Fritsch at the Sydney Orthopedic Research Institute, an organization dedicated to the study and research of orthopedic disorders, especially those related to knee joints.
He made numerous research contributions on topics such as prosthetic osteointegration, biomechanics, and knee kinematics, in collaboration with the Sydney Orthopedic Research Institute (SORI) and the Surgical Orthopedic Research Laboratory (SORL), a research laboratory where surgery, engineering and medicine competencies are merged. Among his scientific publications, Dr Regazzola has produced several articles and has authored an entire chapter dedicated to hip and knee prosthetic surgery, knee reconstructive surgery and osteointegration in the book “Soft Tissue Balancing in Total Knee Arthoplasty (2017 , Springer Berlin, Heildelberg). Dr. Regazzola also has presented his studies at prestigious national and international congresses.
Today, besides seeing patients from his private studio next to Piazza Arnaldo in Brescia, Dr. Regazzola also serves at the Poliambulanza Institute of Brescia, Italy, an innovation center for healthcare, research and training, internationally accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the organization that certifies the quality of hospitals worldwide. The Institute Poliambulanza’s orthopedic team led by Dr. Flavio Terragnoli uses cutting-edge technologies such as Fast Track Protocol for hip and knee prostheses.
